Description
Program cost: $100
Join us for a week of exploration of form, function, and expression using clay. This camp is open to students with any level of experience working in clay. We will focus on learning the fundamentals of hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques as well as surface design and conceptual development. Lessons will include both functional and sculptural objects. Artwork will be fired after the camp, and there will be a pick-up day scheduled for students to come and collect their finished pieces.
Dress Code: Bring to Class Every Day: A sketchbook & pencil. Dress Code for Visual Arts Studio Safety includes proper attire for the studio spaces. • Shoes are required in the studio. Appropriate shoes shall be worn by persons exposed to hazards such as falling objects, rolling objects, piercing objects, chemical exposure, and electrical hazards. Open-toe shoes are not acceptable in any of these applications. Studio environments do not allow open-toe shoes or heels over two inches (no spike or stiletto heels). • Long hair, scarves, loose jewelry, and any other loose attire shall be kept in a fashion that does not allow it to become caught in moving or rotating machinery. • Clothing must be appropriate for the studio in its coverage and usability. For example, skirts of a shorter length would not be appropriate for ceramics class due to throwing on the wheel. No exposed midriffs, that could expose you to chemicals, solvents, heated tools or materials, or sharp objects. • Clothing that can get dirty or messed up should be worn. • Ceramics/Pottery: No long fingernails, as you cannot work with the clay in the demonstrated manner.
For any students with food allergies we recommend students bring their own lunch as we cannot guarantee being able to accommodate all allergies.
